1. INTRODUCTION

This how-to has been written with the assumption that you know something about linux but not everything of Linux. I haven't included anything that can be done through the command prompt. Linux geeks can search elsewhere for more information.

2. BURNING THE CD

a)  luitlinux-0.4.iso is the base CD iso image. So burn it as you would burn any other iso image.

b)  llcd2-0.4 and llcd3-0.4 are compressed files. They are not iso images. So they are to be burned as a data cd as you would burn any other data files.

c)  All three of the above can be combined to make a single CD. It easily fits into a mini-CD 180MB.  Or you can write it into a 700 MB CD with additional data or your favorite MP3's. To help you make the CD, you can download a small script (Luit_iso) with readme files from http://sarovar.org/projects/luitlinux or you can use Windows utilities like WinISO.

3. Booting

Put your LuitLinux CD that you have made in your CD-ROM drive and start your Computer. You will be welcomed with the LuitLinux Boot splash and a boot prompt. Either press enter, wait for 10sec or enter a boot command to proceed. Press "f2" for boot commands available. eg >luit toram will load your CD to RAM.

After the initial booting sequence, you will come to your "x-configuration" option. Choose as required. You will finally go to LuitLinux Desktop if everything goes right.

4. At the LuitLinux Desktop

LuitLinux uses the XFCE-4 Linux Desktop and Window Manager. You can go through the how-to about it from  XFCE HELP present at the icon bar.

a.  Right clicking over a Desktop area, brings about the DeskTop Menu which gives you access to some of the packages and utilities available.

b.  There is a XFCE-4 icon bar present at the bottom of your Desktop. Please go through each one of them and see what are available to you. Different packages and utilities have been grouped accordingly for easy access.

c.   There is a small help file in the above bar. Most of your questions can be answered by going through it. You can also go through the XFCE-4 Help Files.

5. Enhancing your DeskTop

a. Gkrellm is a small DeskTop Monitor that can be accessed from either the DeskTop Menu or from icon bar- Utilities
